How We Control Mice and Rats

Our five step process. Each step builds on the last, and the number of visits depends on what we find.

Inspection

Every service begins with a thorough initial inspection. A technician examines the property for entry points, environmental factors, and construction issues that may allow rodents in or contribute to future problems.

Assessment

The technician reviews the reasonable solutions and explains the recommended approach. Baits are very often the most effective option, but we go over all control methods along with the entry points and harborage areas we found.

Baiting or Trapping

We offer both trapping and baiting. Because mice and rats breed quickly, baiting is typically the preferred method. Bait blocks are placed inside bait stations, which are secured boxes with small openings that allow rodents to enter and feed.

Follow-Up Services

Follow-up visits are usually scheduled to check and replace baits. Most cases need one or two follow-ups, though heavier infestations will very likely need more. Service plans are available for ongoing monitoring and re-baiting.

Exclusion

Once follow-ups are complete, we recommend sealing the entry points we identified. We can seal most of them. A seal-up is a patch over the problem area, not a permanent repair, and it does not replace damaged material. Repairs such as fascia or ridge vent work will very likely need a contractor.

How Do Mice and Rats Get In?

Mice can use openings as small as one quarter inch, about the size of a dime. Rats need slightly larger gaps. These are the entry points we find most often.

A technician confirms what you are dealing with during the initial inspection.
It depends on the level of activity. Most cases include the initial visit plus one or two follow-ups to check and replace baits. Heavier infestations will very likely need more. Service plans are available if you want ongoing monitoring and re-baiting.

Bait blocks are secured inside tamper-resistant bait stations with small openings sized for rodents. The technician places them in areas where pets and children are less likely to reach and will go over every placement with you. If you would rather not have bait on the property, tell the technician and we will very likely use trapping instead.
In most cases, yes. The technician identifies entry points during the initial inspection and will tell you which ones we are able to seal. A seal-up is a temporary patch, not a permanent repair. It is not the same as replacing damaged fascia, soffit, siding, or vents. That work is for a contractor.
Seal-ups often hold for several years. They are still a patch over the damaged area, not a replacement for it. Where the underlying wood, soffit, or vent is rotted or failing, the permanent fix is repair or replacement by a contractor. The technician will tell you when that looks to be the case.
Yes. For a rodent issue, attic service includes inspection, trapping or baiting, and sealing entry points where we are able. Note that general interior pest treatments cover a perimeter treatment of the basement and all floors, and the attic is not included in those.
We remove droppings from hard surfaces. We do not remove droppings from attic insulation, whether it is fiberglass or cellulose, and we do not offer attic cleanups, insulation removal, or insulation replacement. Our attic work is inspection, trapping or baiting, and sealing entry points.
It could be, though mice, squirrels, and raccoons are more common causes. Bats are outside our service range and we do not perform bat removal or bat exclusion. We do service mice, rats, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, chipmunks, groundhogs, moles, and skunks.
Yes. Our service plans include continuous monitoring and re-baiting along with unlimited free re-services between scheduled visits. No contract is required and you can cancel any time with no fees or penalties.
