Flea Control in Southeast Michigan

Fleas are most commonly introduced into homes by dogs and cats but can also hitchhike in on clothing or wildlife. Once established indoors, they reproduce rapidly in carpet and bedding and can be difficult to control without treating both the environment and the host animal. Flea bites cause itching and irritation and can trigger allergic reactions in some people and pets.

Flea Dirt

Small black specks that look like ground pepper. Actually dried blood excreted by fleas. Found in pet bedding and on the pet itself. Turns reddish-brown when wet.

Larvae

Tiny, white, worm-like larvae found in carpet fibers, pet bedding, and floor cracks. Feed on flea dirt and organic debris.

How We Treat

Effective flea control requires treating your home and ensuring your pet receives veterinarian-prescribed flea treatment at the same time. We treat interior carpet and flooring areas where fleas develop. Treating only the pet or only the environment typically results in reinfestation.

FAQ

Yes. Home treatment alone will not resolve a flea infestation if the pet remains untreated. Contact your veterinarian for appropriate flea treatment for your pet, coordinated with your home treatment date.
We will provide specific preparation instructions before your appointment. Typically this includes vacuuming thoroughly, washing pet bedding, and keeping pets and people out of treated areas for a period after treatment.
Wildlife , raccoons, opossums, stray cats , can deposit fleas in your yard. You or your family can bring them in on clothing. Fleas can also persist in a home that previously had pets.
