Spider Control in Southeast Michigan

Spiders are common in Southeast Michigan homes and businesses year-round. While most species found indoors are harmless, they are unwelcome guests in living spaces and are often a sign of underlying insect activity that spiders are feeding on. Spider web knockdown is included on every service plan visit at no extra charge.

Identification

Michigan has several species that fall under this pest category. Here is what to look for.

House Spiders

Small, brownish, about 3/16 to 5/16 inch. Build messy, irregular webs in corners and undisturbed areas. The most common indoor spider.

Wolf Spiders

Large, hairy, up to 1 inch. Ground-dwelling and fast-moving. Do not build webs. Often seen running along baseboards or floors.

Cellar Spiders

Long, thin legs with a small body. Build loose, drooping webs in basements, crawlspaces, and corners. Also called daddy longlegs.

How We Treat

Spider treatments focus on perimeter applications targeting harborage areas, corners, and entry points. Web knockdown is performed at every visit. Reducing the underlying insect population spiders are feeding on is also an important part of long-term control.

FAQ

The vast majority of spiders found in Michigan homes are harmless. The brown recluse is not native to Michigan and established populations do not exist here. The yellow sac spider is the most medically significant species found in Michigan and can deliver a painful bite, but serious reactions are uncommon.
Yes. Spider web knockdown is standard on every service plan visit at no extra charge. We knock down accessible webs on the exterior and interior during each visit.
Spiders follow their food source. If you have ongoing insect activity inside or around your home, spiders will continue to be attracted to the area. A service plan that controls the broader insect population is the most effective long-term approach.
