Cockroach Control in Southeast Michigan

Cockroaches are one of the most resilient household pests. They contaminate food and surfaces, trigger allergies and asthma, and are notoriously difficult to eliminate without professional treatment. Early action is important. A small cockroach problem can become a significant infestation quickly under the right conditions.

Identification

Michigan has several species that fall under this pest category. Here is what to look for.

German Cockroach

About 1/2 to 5/8 inch, tan with two dark stripes behind the head. The most common indoor cockroach in Michigan. Prefers warm, humid environments near food and water.

American Cockroach

About 1.5 to 2 inches, reddish-brown with a yellowish figure-8 pattern on the back of the head. Often found in basements, drains, and commercial kitchens.

Oriental Cockroach

About 1 inch, dark brown to black. Prefers cool, damp areas. Often found in basements, floor drains, and crawlspaces. Sometimes called a water bug.

How We Treat

Cockroach treatments typically involve a combination of gel bait applied to harborage areas and a perimeter treatment to intercept foraging roaches. German cockroach infestations in particular require targeted interior baiting and may need multiple visits. Sanitation and exclusion recommendations are provided as part of every service.

FAQ

Cockroaches reproduce quickly, hide in hard-to-reach areas, and can develop resistance to some insecticides over time. Effective control requires finding and treating harborage areas, not just the roaches you can see. Professional treatment combined with good sanitation practices is the most effective approach.
Seeing one cockroach during the day is often a sign of a larger population. Cockroaches are nocturnal and typically only venture out during the day when the population is large or competition for resources is high. We recommend scheduling an inspection if you see cockroach activity.
